> Home Air Pollution The air pollution that residents were exposed to after Hurricane Katrina could potentially increase their rates of asthma, says a report prepared by Dr. Peter deFur, Environmental Stewardship Concepts. It appears that in the aftermath of hurricane residents were exposed to concentrations of air pollution after Katrina that could significantly affect respiratory function. EPA and the Mississippi Dept. of Environmental Quality failed to adequately sample or address problems with pollution spread by Hurricane Katrina. For deFur's air pollution report, see (Katrina air comments deFur). For the PDF report on sediment pollution, see (Katrina ----sediment comments by deFur). Louisiana chemist Wilma Subra has found high levels of pollutants such as arsenic in her post Katrina sampling. For the Subra report, click here. (Subra Testing Results Katrina).
